A GREAT FATHER LOST IN THE SYSTEM

by Mrs. Lamkins
(Memphis, TN)

Well I'm a 32 yr old who has a great father that lives in Phoenix AZ. who has always paid his dues. But now my father is being stuck by my step mother and the system. You see my brother is a 24 yr old man with his own life, and my other brother is 18 and in the army and my father still has to pay child support, which means my step mother gets to sit back and collect a free meal ticket for nothing. I am very upset that no one cares about the good fathers who have paid their dues, he contacted the child support office to stop payments and it was denied. To me it could be for two reasons, either someone does not want to do their job, or they don't realize that my brothers are grown. I am a mother of 3 and if I was divorced I would want help from my husband also, but only for my children until they were old enough to care for themselves. I don't expect him to take of me for the rest of my life. I wished there was help for all those good fathers who have paid there dues. I know for a fact he has overpaid by now and still is paying. What do we do? love and concern for my father and other
fathers .........................................

ending child support
by: Anonymous

Were in an uphill battle with a gold digger out here in Phx as well, paying 1,006.11 because she wanted to go back to school and get a part time job.... But in talkiing with a lawyer we found out that most people make the mistake of thinking child support is just going to end when your kids turn 18, please know this is not true. You must file to the courts letting them know that your child will be 18 and graduated from high school, you must enter when they turn 18 and what month they leave school( if your kid turns 18 on Oct 1st then Oct 31st will be the end on your payments) and then the couts will send this information to the clearing house so they know when to stop payments! I would advise anyone to do it up to 6 months before your child turns 18 and graduates from school since its a slow prosses..... The clearing house does not keep track of your chils b-days there for you have to stay on top of things and file with the courts to let them know whats going on....

My daughter turned 18 Oct. 2008 & graduated May 2009 & now lives with her boyfriend. My child support was always current. I have papers showing that I met my dues and in fact got some money back for overpayment. But - someone never actually closed the case so the meter was left running so to say & now they say I am behind in child support payments - this is nuts - I can't get it resolved...I am in the twilight zone...
