Im returning once again. by: in addition to absent father
I just really wanted to add a comment about these stories we have about childsupport. This sight is the best thing thats happened to me in years because I finally got to tell my story and I think that, its a new beginning because now and here, I have a voice on the subject. I believe that for all these years its like a silent disease, it dont go away and the subject arises from time to time. This is a way for me to say that the walls are fallen down everytime a voice is heard and so if it starts out being one or two, remember the saying that least will be considered as most. Im trying to say that when you take that first step, that first door, then there will be more to follow. Dont let this fade away, Be heard take count, stand up for what you believe in, for whats right. No we dont allways get our way and dont allways get whats right but I am so satisfied in knowing that I done what I could do. This is a place where we all can be a winner because we are heard here.

Its me again replying, Yes if he is on social security being that he paid taxes and worked for a time to recieve ss benifits and your child is under the age 18 your child is entitled to his benifits but on the other hand if the father is recieveing SSI rather your childs not entitled to that paticular befit. hope this helps you can allways find out by contacting social security on behalf of your child. good luck, and Im sorry to hear about what youve been through, now I know Im not alone and this is a good place to be heard. Because writing here, is taking a step forward and in right direction, it has helped me become more aware of services that are available for us parents. I would now take advantage of the services where before I used to think it didnt matter or that Im wasting my time. This has opened a door for me and it is usefull.

response to story about father who went to prision by: Anonymous
hi im the one who wrote about the absent father, thabks for your input, and I agree why cant they be made to pay out of their income even if it is social security, its still their income. Im on ssI only liveing on 624.00 a month since he lost his arm hes on it too for himself but I support my child with mine, and raise him and pay my bills, and buy my son cloths or shoes with my income He should pay his child support with his income even if that happened the fathere will still have it good I sacrifice all I got for my child and he couldnt even sacrifice 5.00 and he wants visitations? we dont want to smell the alcahol, thats where his money goes. He dont even havet to pay for the abuse hes commited he dont even pay rent, he should be held accountable nomatter what his income is. My court date is november 19th I had child support file a petition for contempt, his defence will be that hes disabled now but I dont think that will fly with the judge this time because where does his money go and what happened to the 30,000.00 child support is taking all the violations he commited to the full extent of contempt. Me I stopped feeling sorry for him Its time I stand up and be counted regardless of the money ,that we wont get, now its the principle and its the case that Im not going to forget and I trust the court will make decisions appropriately, he is in default, thats the issue now, its not the money. Antime I am in default for anything I got to pay for it. So in my situation I think that holding him accountable by laws, will satisfy me because I am responsable for my child and if he is not on his part then he already hung himself. From personal standpoint, When I call his bluff he runs. I dont think he will show up, a warrent will be issued. I cant blame child support or the judge they do all they can.

Child Support for kids whose fathers are in prison by: Anonymous
I understand your fight 100%. My four children had an abusive father and it took us years to get out. The final act was my ex-husabnd beating me so badly that he left me for dead. he ended up in prison. 10 years later he is out, but the agencies that are suppose to help him seek work are hiding him, telling me that "I doube you will ever see a dime". My question is why can we not be allowed to receive his social sercurity benfits that he had earned beofre he went to prison. He had worked for 17 years - I feel that the kids are entitled to this, since I doubt he will ever work again.
Is there such a law? How can I make my voice be heard?
