Carol's Plea for Child Support

by Carol
(Piedmont,al)

My daughter is now 17 yrs old. my now husband has raised her since she was 3. she was 18 months old before paternity was established and child support soon after. he only had to pay 166.00 a month. and that is still what it is set at here in 2009. he is very behind right now and i cant get dhr to do nothing. i once called them about it and they said well thats not really that bad behind. he helped bring her in this world and he cant even support her. she is a senior this and i got more help from local school on her senior fees and not zilch from him. he has been married 4 times since she has been born. he had rather take care of a stranger than his own daughter. he goes months and sometimes as much as a yr without calling her. he has visitation rights but the last 4 yrs he has stayed away. when he does call he always has some excuse to why he doesnt call. personally she is better off cause he always upsets her. i know she still hold on to hope he will change but he never will. when she thinks he is out of her life for good he finally calls and she is upset all over again. he has been married to this woman for almost a year and just now told her about a month ago about him having a daughter. it would make me happy if he was locked up for life and throw away the key. i just cant see how someone could sleep at night knowing they have a daughter in the world and doesnt want anything to do with her. someone like that doesnt deserve freedom. it just makes me sick. anyway i think i have done a ok job with my now husband raising her. she is now a mother herself and understands how important the responsibility is raing a child. maybe one day there will be tougher laws and states do what they say in laws when a parent defaults payment.
