Child support enforcement in Texas is a joke!!

I live in KS but the sperm donor lives in TX! I dont get child support more often than i do! Every couple of months he quits his job and then i quit getting child support and he is also supposed to cover medical insurance on my child but since he cant keep a job i provide it for her! Since i dont live in TX everytime i stop receiving child support then KS has to ask TX to cooperate with them in serving the contempt papers! Texas NEVER cooperates....and to make matters worse...the donor is on parole and the state of TX still DOES NOT take action! Texas does NOT hold the non-custodial parent responsible which is a bunch of CRAP!! I mean what would happen to my child if i was also a dead beat loser that didnt take care of my child??? Im supposed to just sit back and be okay with him not having any responsibilities and im seriously sick of it! He doesnt have to pay but he still have rights! Yea TX that makes alot of f'n sense...that is deffinately an incintive for them to pay! Your laws are STUPID!!!!

Sorry Child Support Laws In Texas

I agree with all of you, except for that idiot David. Texas is a non proactive state when it comes to collecting child support. My ex-husband is a total deadbeat, I have been trying to collect child support for four years.Everytime I try to ask Attorney General for help , they are nasty and they tell me to find out where he is working. I have been struggling to provide for my daughter, he will not help me take care our daughter at all. It is totally unfair, and I agree with Michelle , child support laws in Texas sucks really bad!!!!!!

10+ year old Child Support Case...

I've had an ongoing child support case since '98! I currently reside in another state, other than TX where the child support case originates, and it's been 1 headache after another!
He's nearly $28,000 in back child support and still roaming free to do as he pleases while I have supported our child the entire time.
A court order was FINALLY given after the TX attorney general decided to take the initiative and do something back in '07. It stated he was to pay the court ordered amount monthly or face jail time after they revoked his probation they put him on...
He made a few full payments and my child thought it was Christmas those few months! Payments didn't last long, at all! Nothing was done...no jail time, no revoke of his probation...no nothing!
It's now 2011 and and I've received a lovely payment of $20... $20? What in the world is that supposed to do? Yet, each time I call the TX attorney general's office, they are 'working' on revoking his probation...
BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!
I really wish they would get some honest hardworking people in Texas that were actually willing to help us out!

Arkansas is no better.

Arkansas is the same. All that seems to matter is protectin non custodial parents rights, not the child. Grand baby's dad was made to get insurance on baby by enforcement agency, it's only been in affect for a week and he quit his job a few days ago. Don't know if her Medicaid was cancelled since he got insurance and now she is without anything, or what to do.

I agree Texas is horrible, and quite frusterating. They are rude when you call, and don't wish to help. They have done nothing to enforce. I have done the tracking down, and provided them with his new address. They had him in court 4 different times while he was over $5,000, and yet they slapped him on the wrist and let him walk away Now they cannot find him.

I work and I support my daughter myself as any mother should, and in the end it is not about the money for me...just the fact that a life was created and both parties are responsible.
It is very sad what some people go through, and yet my husband has it hard and gets crapped on by the custodial parent of his son. I have seen it from both ends, and I do agree that the father does get it really rough...but there are those deadbeats out there...

At the end of the day, it is what it is. I have learned to stop getting upset and just realize that my daughter has a loving stepfather, a good home, and I am thankful that I am able to provide her a beautiful life. So my advice is to stop living on hate and spite and move on because there really isn't anything you can do :(

Hey, I know exactly what you talking about, Michelle from kansas. I too, had to deal with and am continuing to deal with texas child support, and I am a native here! It took YEARS for child support to start making my childs dead beat dad support his daughter; and, to all the wise-cracking smart asses out there, my childs father and I dated for 3 years before I became a mom. I did not just screw him and leave, he just decided he did not want to be responsible for anyone but himself.

Anyways, he did not even show up to court all the times we were due to appear, and the judge kept resetting the date to give him more time to show up. I called the court and told the clerk that he would not show up because he hadnt seen or spoke to his child since she was about 3 months old (she was 4 then) and the clerk just replied " the judge will handle it".

He did not show up to any of the court dates and the judge finally ruled and ordered him to pay. The bastard owed over 17,000 in back child support, and claimed he couldnt pay because he didnt have the money at the time.

Texas is a bad place for single mothers depending on child support to help take care of their children who are caught up at the mercy of dead beat sperm donors. These men can make all the execuses they want here, but if a woman takes the time to raise the children and provide for them, then the man-execuse me boy- should get off his ass and help, too. The reason men make execuses for each other is because the great majority are all selfish, self-serving, ignorant, jealous fucks who hate it when they have to give up a little of their freedom to ANYONE, even their own flesh and blood. Not having a job is no execuse because I am forced to keep a job to take care of my responsibilities; hell, a man can get out there and pick up cans so his child can at least have milk and bread on the table. How are these JOBLESS men living without an income, anyway? I bet the majority of them havent missed one mean the past week.

For years I cried and begged for my childs father to come visit our child; to this day he wont call her, or visit her, birthdays, holidays, etc. I have been the mom and the dad for 15 years now, and my daughter is fine.

Currently, I am in graduate school pursuing a degree in FAMILY LAW so I can stick it to all the dead beats out there (women included) who think it smart to bring kids into this world and refuse to care for them. Texas dead beat assholes, beware.

Yes. The woman is half responsible. To have sex whenever with whomever is careless. But the man is equally guilty. So...to be fair, the government has to make sure the man pays HALF. Otherwise, I pay, you pay, she pays, we all pay for some guy to go around doing his thing. THEN we have to pay for his kids who end up in jail. YOU DONT PAY YOUR FAIR SHARE OF CHILD SUPPORT---YOU GO TO JAIL SO YOU CAN'T PROCREATE ANY MORE!!! End of problem.

I am wondering if this is not my ex just making up stuff since she is from Kansas but added the jail part....If it is I am not a sperm donor I do pay and I dont quit my job I get laid off with this economy it sucks right now...I havent seen my child in years because she refuses to corporate...I have never gotten a Christmas with my child no month in the summer and there has been several other states that she has lived in..How can you be a good father and not see your child there is more about being a FATHER than money....I dont even know her address in KANSAS....

Very classy calling them 'sperm donors'. That is indeed how many of us feel. I'm the non-custodial parent and no matter what I pay or what the order says, they haul me back in every 6 months anyway to 'upward modify' the order. The great state of Texas receives more federal money than any other state for every dollar they collect. I've found them to be on the contrary to your experience extremely involved and proactive in getting more money from me. That's because they get commissions and dollar for dollar matching funds for collecting each dollar.

So, the only reason you're not getting money is because your sperm donor boyfriends are loser and the state won't even waste time trying to get money from them... At least take some responsibility for whom you sleep with and stop whining. If the state could get more than a hundred bucks here and there from your ghetto loser sperm donors, at less than it would cost to hunt them down and make them pay, trust me they would.

I live in Houston,Texas and I have to agree that Texas laws are stupid.I've been waiting for child support for nine years for my daughter. Once they found the sperm donor they only made him pay back only five years,so he's getting off easy and he still don't pay.All the drama you have to put up with Texas child support laws. They should let another state handle their cases because Texas is no help.Texas is really wasting taxpayers dollars for paying those child support worker to do nothing.Texas records should really be aduited because they aren't doing their job.My children father was in prision and they kept telling me to locate him and when he got out on parole.So whats with that picture(LAZY)

AMEN SISTER! I live in this stupid state and can't get help for the life of me. They tell me as long as he makes SOME payment within 30 days they will not go after him! He can pay $5 a month and they will not do anything! He doesn't carry ins or even help me with any out of pocket but still demands his visits to the kids. Which I allow, due to if I didnt allow that, sure enough I would go to jail for contempt! I just made a comment that if I didnt support my kids, CPS would take my rights in a heart beat so how the heck does he still have them!
