Supporting Ex Wife not children
by: Anonymous

My husband pay $1500.00 a month for two children -she works at the school making 12.00 and hour and lives in a two bedroom apt and get the whole summer off. She wanted the divorce - but her boyfriend didn't move to Texas and now she lives off of children's child support. What a joke - she screwed around and now the kids and their dad get the shaft.

I'm a single male, 31 years old. I am forced to pay 900.00 a month even though I only worked 4 months last year and didnt recieve unemployment. I have only worked 1 month out of this year, yet I still have to pay the full amount. Last year I made 36k, roughly and paid 10,800. Do the math, after taxes and child support I am not left with much. Even though I am not working (no income) I am threatened with a bad credit rating and jail if I cant pay. I want to use my GI Bill for school but do not see a way to make it possible. Advice anyone?

I totally agree.. My husband and i have to work to pay his nearly 700.00 amonth child support for 1 child. we have 4 of our own at home. the childs mother has three children by 3 different men, refuses to work, collects foodstamps monthly,soc.sec.for eldest child and childsupport also for the youngest. my husband has been laid off for some time now and when we tried to get it lowered temp. until he can find work she wouldnt agree to it becuase she claims she is struggling... he was also ordered to pay her medical support in the amount of 40 extra dollars amonth. what i dont understand is why she gets the money when the child is on medicaid???? that money should go to the state!!!! our taxes are paying for all of the assistance she recieves too... why isnt the mother required to help support her child??? we live in texas.
