social engineering

New Jersey is such a screwed up state of progressive liberalism and oversaturation of legal professionals who have manipulated the nuances of the law. While it is easy to understand that children are cared for until the age of majority, after that, forcing this on any parent is absolutely a violation of the constitution. There is no legal requirement that a person is somehow required to have an education beyond high school. If this were so, there should be free public colleges just as are the high schools. This is the creation of a subclass and it is absolutely unconstitutional. Are the people of the other 40 states in the country somehow not as enlightened as the bright people of New Jersey??? (sarcasm) It is just absurd. Neew Jersey is being eaten by a cancerous intellectual arrogance. This state is out of control.

child support special needs
by: Anonymous

No one ever considered a child or young adult who presents with special needs and is unable to completly care for themself. Should the state and or federal government take care of this young adult for the rest of life - when the YA has two capable parents? If the young adult lives with the custodial parent the YA is likely not to be accepted into a social security position because the CP income is often counted against the YA, leaving the YA to fend for themself. However, it is proven that this YA cannot care for themself completly. It then has to fall back on the custodial parent (CP) and that isnt right. If one parent has to pay then both parents should have to pay. When the CP cant solely provide for the young adult (YA) then both parents should be made/forced to provide for that YA. It is the responsibility of the parent to care for their child not the state, not the government and not a shelter that a young adult with special needs would have to seek if not for a parent. I tell future parents to really make sure you are responsible enough to care for a child even if for a lifetime. The financial obligations of raising a child is the responsibility of both parents - period!! EVEN IF FOR A LIFETIME....

new jersey as a dictatorship
by: michael

I applaud the author's position and reasoning. The sad fact is that divorce law in NJ is another example of extreme governmental overreach. The government in NJ has insinuated itself into every aspect of life. What is logical and right does not apply. Clearly, to discriminate against divorced parties forcing them to support adult children in whatever endeavor where children in a marriage attain majority and emancipation at 18, is wronger than wrong, and obviously unconstitutional. Politicians and courts and the so called women's movement have poisoned logical discourse. Why can a court damage your credit if you are behind in child support while your credit does not benefit when you make timely payment ? Why can one party in a divorce roll over and play dead in re employment, not even asked to provide a history of job seeking, while the other party is expected to work ? There is no question that men are discriminated against in divorce and the hypocrisy of so called independent women is glaring. If you are so independent why do you expect and accept alimony ? Sadly, divorce in general is an industry whose only product is rancor and injustice, supporting parasitic judges and attorneys.
