Child Support Should cease to exist

by Daniella
(San Francisco California)

My husband has been dealing with the scum of the earth type of woman for 3 years now. He pays off every last penny of back child support pay to the girl to were the balance is zero. Then out of the blue the Texas child support office sends a letter saying he now owes $1800. The problem is his case is out of state they have no communication. And all the while the girl is buying concert tickets and buying new clothes for herself while her child has nothing according to her my space pics. I have 4 kids of my own and i receive child support for two of my kids. I have never lost my child support once. But i work 50 hours a week sometime to offset what they were taking from my husband. And this girl is the epitome of deadbeat mom. She doesn't work half the time and lets her boy toy support her. How is it right that they can say "hey you have paid up your obligation but oh wait! you have to pay more." I don't think so! There should be a law that says the woman has to pay for the child as well by working. And deadbeat he's not. I know he made a mistake but when he has tried so hard to get this off his back she cries to the child support every five seconds. She has even told me to my face he will pay no matter what and that is all she wants because she won't let him sign his rights away. We were even going to pay for the lawyer. My husband is a hard working man and did pay all that time and look at how they repay him. By giving money to a succubus that doesn't deserve it!

Child support should be for the children. I think this is what everyone who pays expects but does not get what they want. The new wives/husbands of the people who owe support are the ones who suffer. I love my husband but he will never have anything and he makes the majority of our household income. We can't get a loan, a car, a house or a break. We have to carry insurance and pay on 2 children that this man didn't see or hear from or even have an address for 13 years. Then out of the blue, their mother called because she started having problems with their son. He had just turned 16 and she decided she didn't want him to live with her and her husband anymore and his father would have to take him. My step-son is a good kid. My husband is still paying child support to his mother for both of the children. The mother and her husband make great money, live in a new house and even have a spare new car. We drive an old pickup and rent a mobile home. I want everyone to think about this. Would you give your children back? Do you wish you never had them? No. (If so then maybe you should consider adoption rather than gripe) So, the question to ask is why are parents being punished for giving you a gift no one else could? Even if you have other children, the child(ren) you had with your ex are precious and were worth it. Here's an idea. Get a job. Spend more on your children than you do on yourselves. Make sure they are the ones getting the support. I know few will actually follow this advice, but it would be nice if just one person who reads this and is receiving support will start to think about someone other than themselves for a change. I just cannot conceive a parent who puts themselves before their children. No matter what happens between my husband and I, our daughter is the most important thing. My mother left me... 3 months after my father left. I know what it feels like to not have your parents around and cannot imagine why someone would knowingly neglect them. I understand it happens but if it does then let them go. If they are the kind of parent who gives up the children, let them go. If you keep them away from their children, don't ask for support. This was asked earlier: how much does a baby really need? The answer is a lot but there should be a limit. I don't know any child who needs $1200 every month. They'll live without lavish amenities. If the parent buys them clothes, helps them out and pays attention to them then a person should not have to provide support for the custodial parents light bill that they would have to pay anyway. We have utility bills and we pay them. Everyone expects something from everyone else and it's pathetic. We all had a grand time conceiving these children but no one wants to own up to the responsibility that follows. It was 50/50 then and it should be now. If you have trouble understanding this then maybe you need to go back to that day in health class when they explain the sperm/egg theory.

Proof?
by: Anonymous

If the parent paying child support should show proof he/she made payments, the custodial parent should show proof of where every last cent goes or have it revoked and have to pay it back. We have the same problem. My step-kids are living in a tool shed with no running water but the state of Oklahoma thinks it's ok because it has a roof. Every state has their priorities backwards. Most of the money they have collected doesn't even go to the "kids" (I mean the mother in this case) it goes to the state for everyone else's welfare. Here's an idea, you wanted custody because you felt the other parent was not good enough. You don't let this person see their children and you remarry. How do you sleep at night? If you and a person who is not the child's parent are raising the child, then you shouldn't ask for anything. Both parents have the right to raise their children, not the person who can be the biggest jerk. This is why the children lose in these situations. They are being raised by the worst role model. If you recieve an unfair amount of child support, if you don't share the children and if you are one of the people on here saying everyone should just stop "whining" then you are the bad egg and shame on your soul. You need to grow up you money grubbing... You are a disease and what is wrong with the world. LIFE IS HARD AND UNFAIR BUT YOU DON'T NEED TO MAKE IT ANY WORSE!

What a load of crap
by: Anonymous

Maybe if all of you whiners actually took care of your kids, as the custodial parent -always- has to do, you wouldn't be in the trouble you're in now. My kids don't just stop eating because their worthless excuse for a father 'made a mistake' and 'forgot' to contribute to their care for years. Know what happens when custodial parents 'make a mistake' and forget to feed their kids? The state takes them away and hits the parent with criminal neglect charges. Because it is CRIMINAL to not take care of your children. I don't feel sorry for a single one of you, but I damn sure feel sorry for your kids.

It's kinds your fault....
by: Anonymous

Why are you people making payments directly to the custodial parent. Your payments should ALWAYS go through the child support office. They are the mediator and as long as you do this the custodial parent who receives support can't claim that you haven't made payments.

If you aren't doing this, then it is your fault that there is no official record of your child support payments.

I question anyone who claims to have made a payment directly to a custodial parent vs paying the child support office.

Why in the world would you do this?

I thought 870.00 a month was high!

There should be a limit to what amount can be collected per child. How many bottles and such does a baby need? This is what I call alimony, y'all! She gets a free ride until the child is grown, and it keeps the man from moving forward. That's the thanks he gets for having faith that she'd never cheat and leave him for another man, then lies and gets back child support that he didn't owe, but didn't keep reciepts, then any time he doesn't jump through hoops, she gigs him for more money. Same theme that is running through many posts I've read so far.

It makes it hard to be the second wife. Really really hard.

lets change laws
by: Anonymous

I see that everyone here is angry over the terrible injustice over child support laws and paternity fraud(and rightfully so). My husband is also experiencing the pain and hardship from these injustices, and we are doing something about it. There are bills before the Texas legislature right now as week speak. Go to the Texas legislature website and use key words child support and paternity fraud to pull up all of the pending bills. Call your congressmen and women to vote against the injustice and vote in the bills which will level the playingfield for men against women who use their children for a paycheck. Tell our lawmakers that we want justice and if they will not support laws to bring justice to these men then we will not support these lawmakers on election day. This is where we have to start people. Remeber these people are elected officials. They need us to keep their jobs, make them work for us, get involved, it takes effort .but it will be worth it

Mom pays CS
by: Anonymous

Well my case is different I am a Mom that has to pay CS, my ex was so mad that I moved away he talked my 13 yr into signing papers that he wanted to live with his dad. My ex makes 3 times more than I do and still wants money and through the 8 years of divorce when I did have custody I had to pay for his medical and still have to cover medical. So it is all in your lawyer and the judge.

I agree with you. I live in Texas and for some reason they seem to mistake the moms words for something out the bible. My fiance pays childsupport, but he was paying it directly to her through money orders. Well when they went to the AG office she claimed that he had not been paying child support at all. So here he had letters stating he was years behind in back child support. When he went down to the child support office to dispprove her they hasseled him a great deal until eventually they fixed the account. The other problem is that he had been paying childsupport since the moment they seperated. According to the Child Support office any childsupport he paid before they were divorced (while they were seperated) does not count in any way shape or form. So he paid child support for 3 years for nothing because they wont even give him credit for that.

To make matters worse, yes the mom does work, however she rarely takes care of the child. She is always with her grandma so why should my fiance have to pay childsupport to this women when she doesnt even take care of the baby.

Feel Your Pain
by: Anonymous

We pay $850 a month to scum that lives in Virginia and we haven't seen the kid for 7 years. Last night the wonderful State of Texas froze all of our bank accounts because of child support in arrears. They overdrew my account $9000. How is this possible? The State of Texas is the most biased when it comes to child support. We have called and tried to get answers to no avail. Figures.

I agree with you both

1200 a month for one child is nuts. To make you feel better about your 1200 a month for 6 years...how about this?... how about having a mother come back(after being in hiding) and hit you for support with the OAGs' help when the child is 15? you then owe 100,000 in back support which you can never catch up with.

I agree there are many sides to every story. The sad part is in Texas....all most dads are looked at as deadbeats period. Meanwhile the women who hide kids, sit on welfare, and do not care for the kids properly, or look for men to live off of...benefit. The children suffer in the long run. Very sad Texas has a history of not caring about kids and families in general.

That's Texas for you
by: Anonymous

It's all about the money no matter how you look at it. All states (especially Texas) will continuosly find ways to keep the mooney flowing through their system. That's how they receive the funding from the fedeal government. If all he has to pay is $1800.00, then you are lucky. Try paying $1200.00 a month for the next six years for one kid like I have to.
