Curious Sister

by Demetra
(Denver, CO USA)

OK, my brother is a good father and trying to see my nephew. He has two boys from two different women but still is very much involved with his children and his step children. His soon to be ex wife took his youngest son away from him bcause she doesn't want him aroun other women, but his current girlfriend is the best mom to my nephews and her own two kids. My brother's ex wife is a drug addict, has already been to rehab, is negligent to my nephew and her other three (not my brother's) and gave the kids to her mom, only gets them from school, anf still collects $500/mo off of my brother for child support.

The Child Support Registry agennt is her cousin's best friend so they ar not giving my brother a fair chance and they gave him the furthest court date so he is obligated to pay. his current girlfriend is a student so she has no job and he pays the bills. he has a good job brings home good pay checks but now he only brings home $100 every other week because of his ex- wife now they are losing thier house. His girlfriend is seeking employment but they are struggling. Do you have any resources that I can give them to get justice??

The laws are very corrupt in the woman's favor! The court system assumes that the mother should have more time with the child, not to mention daddy's balls in a vice! why should either parent have more time? If both parties are fit parents then they should be required to live in the same school district and the child(ren) should switch off every week. And the father should, by no means be "Mommy's Cash Cow."

CONCERNED SIS

First step would be going to the family court house and find the free clinics and self help dept. and start asking questions Find an organizatioin in your area that supports father efforts and join it find it on the internet or ask at self help he will have to go to court to modify the original court decision but with the group help they should be able to help find a somewhat cheap attorney and fight your case if the situtations is what you say in the long run he may end up with more custody time which means less child support good luck im from sacramento so may be different but worth looking into JBanta father's resource canter was the group I used

Man

I hear you, if your a man, there are no laws on your side.. It's a sexist law-bashing hateful way created to protect women 30 yrs. ago. They need to update the laws because of there are so many good dads now and they make it unfair..
