Denial of Visitation

by oscar
(San antonio, Tx)

My Ex and I divorced back in 1997, since then I have been denied my visitation rights by her despite court ordered visitation. We have gone back and forth to court several times yet the court has done not a damn thing to enforce my visitations. I pay $1000 per month in child support and not only am I current, I'm over the amount. In addition, I continue to provide extra money to my daughter, who is now 22 years old and I never stopped giving her extra. Now, we are in court again over the visitation rights and only now the court has threaten her with losing the custody of the kids. The court system is blind and will always side with the mother. No wonder there are so many dead beat dads in that there is no hope or relief for them. I'm lucky that I can get an attorney and continue this battle for my kids. Yet there should been a system in place for everyone to seek out support without having to pay through the nose. There is no equal rights when it comes to men and visitations vs. child support. I bet if the shoe were on the other foot, I would be in jail.

Thank You
Oscar

It's people like you........
by: Anonymous

that should set the bar for non custodial parents. I am so sorry that you have an ex who is a control freak. That's what it comes down to is your ex doesn't want any other influences in the kids life that might not agree with her. Please push this issue and pursue it, because doesn't the back of the custody decree say that non complience with the order can mean fine's of up to $10,000and/ or jail time? I don't remember but it's something like that. My daughter's father is a deadbeat loser but I have never witheld a visitation from him with the exception of either her being sick or him not having a way to get her and even then if I didn't have plans I would go drop her off and pick her up. I still get screwed because he just gets slapped on the wrist for not paying. He is on his way to jail for the 2nd time and when he gets out we'll do it all again. I hope you do get your kids and i hope your ex realizes the time and effort she is putting forth to keep you from them is only going to catch up with her legally or thru her failing relationship with her children. Good luck sir and thank you for for being different from so many others who make people like you look bad.

Tried the local domestic relations office?
by: Anonymous

Before going to court you should go through probably the attorney general's office, the local domestic relations office. They have counselors and attorneys on staff, as well as enforcement programs. Check it out! Lawyers might not always tell you how to resolve things easily and CHEAPLY... they earn a living by making matters worse. Hate me, lawyers, you know what you do for a living is not always in the best interests of all parties.
