Discriminated for being a loving dad with a fair job

by Donnie
(Gadsden, Al)

Well I was divorced 4 years ago and I have two children. My final divorce decree stated that I of course pay child support of 900 month, pay the mortgage on the home (700 mo), pay alimony of 300 mo and provide health insurance through cobra for 318 mo. I caught my ex trying to rip me off by not paying the cobra insurance that was in her name. Since the insurance was in her name it was still a rider on my policy group number so I received updates periodically. I have just taken her back to court due to findings where I was ordered to pay for the marital home (jointly owned) for a period until my youngest daughter reaches Majority (in Alabama the age is 19). Since this contention is listed this makes my payment on the home which is normally alimony, child support. This being the case I am paying child support for the equivalent of 5 children. The circuit court stated that the trial judge ruled this as a property settlement but to be a true property settlement there would be nothing owed at the end of the term when my youngest daughter reaches 19. But at this point in time there will still be 9 years remaining on the mortgage. Every time I go to court I end up feeling like I have been made out to be a dead beat dad and the legal system does not care if I make enough money for myself to live. The ex wife is living much better than she did when I was at home. I want to enjoy life but the dark tunnel seems so long I am not sure I will ever see the light again ...
