Divorced over 29 years.

by Karen
(Plano,Texas USA)

I was a divorced mother of one working two jobs to make ends meet and the court system never did anything to help me obtain the $50.00 a week that my ex was ordered to pay. At this time all I wanted was to get him to help me with child care and clothing for my child. This never happened!!!!

We were divorced when my son was a year old, and we never received any child support. At the age of 17 my son filled with the Attorney Generals office for the back child support that his father owed and got no results. Even though his father was sitting in the county jail at the time. My son is not the only child that this man neglected to pay child support on, and I am sure that the other women that he owed money to would agree that there is nothing worse then someone who will not take care of his children.

The money is yours, not your sons
by: Anonymous

Even thought the support was for your son, the State of Texas laws are such that the money is owed to the custodal parent. Your son, as an adult, can not open and case with the AG for back support because he isn't owed the money. It belongs to you. You as the custodal parent would have to apply for service. And if you see fit, forward that money to your children.
