Help Services for Dads

I had been unemployed for 8 months, and went into a deep depression because I was having such a hard time finding one. I could not provide support for my 8-year old daughter, of which her mother has custody. I would, however, buy her things she needed, when I could find odd jobs. About 1-1/2 months ago I was blessed with a job, and I was so happy. Of course, the child support started up again, which was good. However, I was then taken into custody the week of Christmas, with no chance of getting out without paying at least $6,000. My daughter was devastated, as was I. I love my daughter very much and am a good father. I just do not have a high-paying job right now, but I am determined to keep working on it. My question is: How can I do this if I am in jail for 6 months? Who is benefiting; I will be another 6 months' behind, and I also lost the job that I had such a hard time getting, as well as losing contact with my precious daughter?????????? I have no money for a lawyer---Are there any services out there to help dads such as myself???

Not a "deadbeat" dad and don't want to be one

Debtor Prision
by: Anonymous

You can file papers to the court to release you from debtor prision. It is against the law for them to hold you if you are unable to purge yourself. You have the right to go to your county's law library. If you need any further guidance please let me know & I will try to help you. My email is myla_jones@hotmail.com
