Is there any help for non-custodial parents
Just the beginning... .
As a non-custodial parent (NCP), am I the only one that deems the process unfair? Am I the only one that is now struggling to make ends meet due to the amount of support allocated by the state? Does the state only seem interested in making the NCP a financial provider instead of the parents that we are? Good parents; the ones that will do anything to make their child (ren) happy. The ones that attend their class functions and parent-teacher conferences “The ones that go out back to throw the ball around”. This blog was created because I am on a crusade in bringing awareness to state legislation in regards to the NCP's, child support and the guidelines that determine the amount. Right now, I don't feel like there is any assistance, especially legally that can help bring about a fair amount of support that both parents can work with. It is my opinion that if the custodial parent cannot afford to care for the child (ren) then they don't need to have custody of them. Understand that I have no problem taking care of my child, but to what expense. Do I move my family back into an apartment so that I can have enough money to pay child support, rent, car note, utility bills, credit cards, health bills, daycare, etc. Where does it end? Does it end? Having to endure 12 more years of this is frustrating and unsettling? The GA. legislation that was written and revised as of 2007 definitely did not take into account that we (NCP’s), as living people, have debt obligations that our income goes to. Paying these obligations may help me to better my family so that I can provide more for my children. But now I am going further into debt, I am causing financial arguments/strain with my husband and am stressed out so much that I don't want to go to the mailbox. I don't want to open another letter from DHR. I don’t want to see another letter from his attorney. Where does it end? Does it end? NCP’s have voices that need to be heard!
And mine is starting NOW…
