This is my son

This is my son

When I was nineteen years old I became pregnant with my boyfriend of one year and we were in california at the time. I decided to move back to AZ where I would live with my family. Of course he was more than willing to let me go. When I got here we talked about the baby over the phone for one month and then I never heard from him again and what I did hear was that he lived in Alaska and had a wife. So I decided not to bother him anymore and about three months ago he had told me he was living back in California and was going to move back to Arizona with his mother. We talked and our conversation led up to him asking to visit his son and I said "Yes" hoping he would want to be in his sons life. So he came down and saw his son and went home. About one month later I told him we needed to talk about child support because he was talking about more consistent visits. I didnt ask him for any money at that moment I just said, "We need to discuss it" and he flew off the wall, he got so angry and wouldn't reply to any messages. I just don't think that its very fair that I had to take care of everything from when I got pregnant and had to pay for everything alone and im now 21 and I dont have steady income nor do I have a high school diploma. It just breaks my heart when something like this has to be put on my son and how it's gonna have a huge impact on his life when he gets older. But im hoping I can do something legally that can ensure that he has a future with his father as well as having the things he needs in life.

I already know....
by: Martina Etsitty

So...what ur saying is that because I wasnt raped I shoudnt file child support that makes no sense. I just want support and security for my son and I didnt get myself pregnant and you dont know the circumstances of my life. I dont care if he hates me because the feeling is mutual anyway, but I cant just let him be out there like an idiot with no resposibilities and its not fair for Liam. So im gonna do it anyway my life doesnt matter, it doesnt matter what I am doing nor does it matter what hes doing we both have a responsibility and the only difference is I am here for my son and im doing my hardest for him and where is he? And before you critique what kind of person I am...I am doing what i am suppose to be doing and what you've told me I already know...I posted for advice not criticism.

Yes get you education so as to support your son. No one raped you, you chose this life style. Dont depend on the childs father to support you just because you dont have an education. Yes the child needs support. But not our system today can do it right. The abuse the fathers unbelievable. The childs father will resent you and in the end the child suffers . He will want to know what happened to his father.

Doing Something About It

How about getting your high school diploma? Yes, your child needs support from his father, but needs support from his mother as well. Get your diploma, and maybe even some college. Put yourself in a better position to provide for your son. His father could die the very next day, and then what? Who are you going to go after for support? Exactly: no one. Make sure that your situation is on solid ground as well for your son's sake.
