I am a father to great son and love him to death. My ex wife and i split up in 1998, at the time my son was 3 months old. At this time i was making pretty good money. I am a father who wants to pay for the well being of my child who is now 13 years old now. I agreed to pay $100 a week for my son because it was the right thing to do for my son. Throught out these 13 years my income has dropped over 60 percent from $18 an hour to now $7.50 cents an hour. She will not budge on the payments. From what i understand, new york state law is 17 percent of your gross income. I make aproxamently $260 in a 40 hour week before taxes yet i am forced to pay $175 a week in support payments, leaveing me to help support my family, and pay the weekly bills with $60 a week. Now mind you i was out of work for 3 years between 2007 to 2010 because the bottom dropped out of the construction field, so i fell way behind in payments, But i would not have fell behind that far if the courts would have modified my payments to what i could aford. For me as a father, I have never not took responeability for my son. but was forced to fall behind because of the family court systems. This has taken a tole on my marriage and now i am loosing my house, wife and two children because of the stress of this matter, and no fault of my wife. I love my son, and beleave with all of my being he deserves to every penny of support i can give him. Can someone help me? I will still probably loose my everything i have still, but maybe this can help another good father out there thats trying to do the right thing. In closeing, Shame on the family court system and the judges who hear these cases.
A LOVEING FATHER
