I have been struggling to provide my 7 year old daughter with a reasonable standard of living ever since she was a baby. I try to stay employed and if I am not employed, as is the case now, I spend a large portion of my time kooking for work. I have never been lazy. I prefer to work even if I didn't need the money. Raising a child is a demanding occupation in it'self.
My daughter's father comes from a wealthy family. so even if he were unemployed he would not have money problems. He or my daughter's grandmother could easilly pay the very modest amount of monthly child support. I would expect them to pay it gladly since it is for the betterment of their own child/grandchild and the amount is insignificant. Yet, I have gone many months between payments and have not recieved a payment for over six months right now.
Apparently my daughter's father doesn't care at all for his own child. But that isn't really what troubles me the most. What I can't understand is how the state of Mississippi can allow this to go on and do nothing to help my child. It appears to me that the state of Mississippi is more callous and uncaring with regard to the children than anyone. I wonder if anyone could explain to me why Mississippi does not exercise it's broad authority and powers to see to it that the children are taken care of. I thought the current philosophy regarding child support was to be more agressive toward "dead beat dad's". Mississippi has always been kind of slow on the uptake I guess. The state doesn't exactly have a shining reputation regarding change and human rights.
