I know these articles are dated but I feel frustrated too.
My fiance is paying 1100.00 to his ex for his two youngest children aged 20 and 19. At this point the 20 year old is working full time, buying his own shoes and clothing. The 19 year old is in college full time and living in resisdence. His ex is on a disability allowence (but still goes out dancing every staurday night), and is living in section 8 housing. She pays $400 a month for a 3 bedroom townhouse. Her boyfriend stays there almost evey night and we can only assume he is helping out. Every time she and her boyfriend go out for dinner I tell my fiance to remind them to hold a glass up to him since he is footing the bill. It's very unfair. Each situation needs to be assessed individually as good fathers should not have to suffer because of dead beats. Why is it the good guys pay while the rotten fathers who don't care at all are living it up.

the mother, i hate to say because i really havent seen to many honest ones yet, the are a few i am not saying that there is not, but a majority take the man to court to suck out every last dime they can, My question to them is do you know how much it takes to to pay for your own family then another? im sorry but i have been one one of those good dads, shelling out the cash, paying the insurance on top of that as well. then a year later getting bombarded by the state to pay another 15oo in medical bills when my child was covered under my insurance, i brought this up to the court and the d.a. told me he didnt care.... i believe in paying for support, but how far is far... all my friends have kids as well and no where does it cost them 500 a month extra to take care if there 2 kids, and i only have one,go figure, upodate the system. Its 2009 not 1950..

Pay back time! by: She knows who I am
Moved out of my apartment and agreed on giving my ex-wife $1100 a month. I paid her rent directly to the landlord, because the lease was still under my name. And the remaining I gave it to her in cash. I was told by a number of people not to give her cash ever, to give money orders, which I started giving to her a year after I moved out. She diceded to take me to child support after the divorce and claimed I did not give her any money for a year. I ended up with $15,000 in arreas. After going to court and showing prove that I paid her rent directly to the landlord, the judge gave me credit for what I paid in rent, the rest I basically had to pay because there was no prove I gave her any cash. She lied from the beggining saying that I did not give her any money for a whole year and clearly I showed prove she lied when I showed the money orders. I was not given credit for the cash I gave her even though the judge knew she lied. I ended up paying $1,600 a month for about ayear to cover for the arreas. Child support intercepted my income tax returns. Long story short. I lost my job last march and now she gets $100 a week. What goes around comes around. And women get away with a lot of crap like this, it is not fair, they should not always think all men are dead beats. I gave her the money we agreed, plus I calculated an extra $12,000 in gifts for my 2 kids for that year she claimed I did not give her a dime. She is a liar and takes advantage of the poor judgement of the Family court judges.
I hope she saved some money, $1,600 is a lot of free money.

Good Dads? by: Anonymous
I guess I'm confused. You say "good" Dads, and quit thier jobs, and not seeing thier kids in the same sentence. You say the money is spent by the mother for the mother. I found alot of these "good" Dads forget how much it cost to cloth, shelter, feed, keep warm, entertain, and keep these kids healthy. I'm sorry you feel like you've been screwed. But remember you once loved thier mother enough to bring them into the world, now it's both the parents responsibility to keep these kids healthy and happy!

you are one in few by: Anonymous
I was sorry to hear how you have been screwed. Their are many fathers who take care of their responsibilities, but please understand that these laws were established to ensure that the child get the support that is owed to them. If you feel that the support isn't being used on the child(ren) you can request to get copies of reciepts to show where the support is being used. This is something to look in to. But remember that so many parents like myself are not getting the support that is ordered, that is why laws like this are in place.
