No court, no pat.test

by Ray spikes
(Seattle wa)

I move to washington state from ohio back in 1995.At that time I had one child and and I was doing my best to pay child support when I started work.I was in the rears but not by much. Then a few years later I lost my job and I was getting unemployment and they were taking out child support from that, and that was ok,but then I get a letter in the mail letting me know that I was due in court for a paturnty test and to set child support the day I got this letter was the day I was due in court I call everyone I could but there was no help the judge set child support and and decided that I was the father.I"ve been paying child support for this child that I never met and I don't even know how old he is.Child support was set without my income because at that time I didn't have any.So I ask how could this happen and child support agency said we get the avg.income from both parents but I explain to them I did not have any income and I was getting unemployment still to this day I never got an answer. They tell me to get a lawyer and go to court we all know that most fathers can not afford lawyers so I'm stuck paying for both kids one I never met and I'm in the rears that its no way I could pay this amount off my oldest child is 20yo. and in school and I'm still paying and the other child I know nothing about him.But I was wondering is there any help for fathers like me.

TO THOSES FATHERS WHO NEED TO REFILE FOR PATERNITY AND VISITATION
by: Anonymous

You need to petition the court and request an paternity test. You can also petition for visitation because as a father you have that right. But first and foremost get that test done ...and get back in court to get the order reduced.

Child Support -Out of State ...NO WIN BATTLE
by: Anonymous

I have been fighting for years for my daughter to recv her support from her dad who lives in AL and we live in NJ. I have been raising her alone and now she is in college. Her father owes me more than 40,000 dollars and she is currently a full time student. I think this is an now a no winning battle and I refuse to drop the case; I hope that she will eventually see something. The court seem to ignore my case and disburse the money to the younger children in AL. Justice is never served and for those fathers who do pay ..please keep on being good fathers and do not let their mothers discourage you from being a DAD and FATHER.To those women who refuse to work get a job and do your part as being a provider becasue these fathers did not make these children alone.
