No support hurts the kids

I am blessed
I work very hard & live check to check. I supported my first child without help. DHR got involved but I never got anything. That child is 20 now & that father is on disability & it seems that DHR gave up on this case years ago.
I decided to fight harder with my next child. I used my income tax to hire a lawyer. I am suppose to get $600 per month (100 is for back support). I got money 1 time. That was about a year and a half ago. My daughter can't afford her summer reading until I set enough aside. She wears hand me downs. It's a real challenge. I called the lawyer back & to start anything it will be another $700. I don't have it.
Both girls deserve far more. There lives would significantly change if I woke up tomorrow receiving checks on their behalf. The stress level for me as I try to do the best I can but always fall short would be lifted as well.
I just feel hopeless. They go without. It just doesn't seem fair to me.
