My husband has 3 kids, 2 by his exwife that has left the state and he has custody of these two kids. She has not paid child support in 10 years. The other child is with his psycho ex girlfriend. After the paternity suit was done and my husband won the wheel of misfortune in the Who's the Daddy round, he had to pay child support plus any rears (from the date the petition was filed. He started paying the support when ordered never got any file or case number at the time of court. He did receive in the mail paperwork. So he assumed it was for this child. He started paying it using the case info he had on the paper work. About 4 months later he gets the official paperwork for this order with a different case number saying he was $1700 in the rears. We pulled out all the info called child support & also went down the the office. It turns out that the info he got first was for his closed case in child support (it seems that if a mom moves around alot & stays on welfare they dont try hard to get her to pay.) These morons in Albany applied the money to his old case file. And since it was closed they refunded over $1,100 to his exwife for money she didnt even pay. They wouldnt even help with getting the money back said it was our problem.
