Screwed by the numbers

by Sean
(Yakima,wa,usa)

I am a single father with custody of two minor children in washington, and i recieve 130.00 in c.s from their mother. She has custody of 1 minor child from a previous relationship. Now washington gave her a 290.00 reduction in c.s. The flip side of this is, I pay 225.13 to texas for c.s for 1 child, Texas is willig to reduce my c.s 28.00 for each of my children, reducing my over all c.s to approx. 170.00. I thought that the law was uniform for child custody, and child support. boy am I wrong. I guess that when the founding fathers wrote the Declaration, I guess they lied when they said ALL MEN WERE CREATED EQUAL, what they should have wrote was, if you have to pay your screwed. This is discrimination by law, the federal government erred when they allowed the individual states to determine c.s, each state has its own agenda, without a care in the world for the injustice that their laws incure in c.s determinations. These laws were allegedly designed, to support a child or children, of a single parent household, to help keep these households off welfare. However as I'm screwed, I'M on welfare and cant afford to get off of it. In reallity, these laws were designed so that parents who attempt to pay their c.s stay poor with no chance of change in there circumstances. Or, they were designed to force the payee to obtain dual employment so that they may support the children in their own home, as well as pay their c.s, but the catch is if you work 80 hours a week and single you are neglecting the children in your own home and CPS has the right to step in and remove the children, give them to either the other parent or place them in the foster care system, causing that parent to pay even more c.s. THIS SYSTEM IS BROKEN,UNJUST and DISCRIMINATORY. Something needs to be done to remedy this UNJUSTICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
