States get interest from support payments

by Justa Person
(USA)

I am a firm believer that child

support was derived out of someone’s pride taking a 'hit' as
it were. And so, it has been made into law that when someone
insults their mate by divorcing them, they must PAY!!!!
.....that is what I think (yes, yes, I am bitter, and I
realize that in some cases violence ended the
marriage/relationship. For that I truly grieve for you)
As it stands I owe a GREAT sum of money for insulting my 2
x-wives. Yes, you may say that I am a fool for going at it
twice in life, but for your information, I had STILL
believed that man and woman could live together as one and
of one goal: To raise children in such a way as to change
this sorry, miserable, tired world for the better.
Unfortunately, we each have our own way of doing things and
that brings about the end (united we stand, divided we
fall). Now that I have vented, let me get to my point...
When child support is paid, the state takes it and holds it
for a while. They open a high interest bank account and
deposit these payments into it. (see where this is going ?)
After the state has leeched off of MY HARD EARNED MONEY to
their satisfaction, they then disperse it. Now... when an
obligor gets behind, they are brought in for questioning
(just as in socialism) and usually made to serve time.
At that point EVERYONES tax money goes to house, feed, and
clothe this person. All because the state hauled you in to
demand why you thought they no longer deserved to earn
interest off of money that was NOT theirs in the first
place. So it comes down to this... You are never arrested
because the custodial parent has not received their
payments, you are arrested because the state has used the
custodial parents complaint to exact their own revenge
against you for not allowing them the pleasure of leeching
off of your payments.

Because of this bank account, the
child support 'black hole' came into existence. The state is
flagging as it is in constant flux due to this commission
suddenly dissolving, or that commission taking precedence
over another. Paperwork gets shuffled and lost, (and from
what I've read here at this site) and some poor slob gets a
letter informing him/her (more times HIM than HER) that no
payments have been received when YOU know you have been
paying all along!!!

I say abolish the child support
system. In more cases than not the custodial parent earns
more than the non-custodial parent. In many cases the
custodial parent re-marries, sometimes to a person more
affluent even than themselves, thereby adding an over-
abundance of money to the welfare of the child ( and if
anyone out there fits this last scenario and STILL says
their child is still ailing because of money then THAT is a
load of CRAP).

The system is geared to give advantage to
the one, while not having one concern for the other. The
custodial parent (unknown to the courts) can make the non-
custodial parent jump through hoops JUST TO SEE THEIR OWN
CHILD in a lot of cases. SCORES of cases have passed through
where the CUSTODIAL parent has flagrantly ABUSED the system
! And NO one seems to notice THAT illegal activity.
During recent times, a lot of states have come out with a
debit card that the payments go directly on to. A female
acquaintance of mine took that card to a local convenience
store and purchased CIGARETTES and BEER with it. I can tell
you from first-hand observance that the state did NOTHING to
correct that situation. Again I say, abolish the system. It
is unfair, and gainful only for those that would benefit
monetarily from it!

Ok...I'm done

Child support corruption
by: Anonymous

I am currently trying to get the media involved in exposing the corruption of juvenile courts and child support laws in Ohio. If anyone is interested in sharing info. please e-mail me, I believe with enough people involved a movement against this corruption can be started. The media MUST be involved. It's the only chance to force politicians to listen as they fear for their jobs. Thanks, Allan Mchugh Ohio

Bitter you definitely are
by: Anonymous

You are right in the fact that child support laws can be unfair sometimes.BUT when YOU have children YOU are responsible for them. It don't matter if your ex marries someone who makes more money than you. YOU laid down and had those children. YOU have to take care of them. Just because YOU may be having problems doesn't mean they stop getting hungry or needing things. Single mom's and dad's struggle all the time. I am a single mom and life has not been a picnic for me and my kids. The new husband/boyfriend of your ex is NOT responsible for YOUR children financially. You still have to pay whether you like it or not. If your ex's new boyfriend/husband decides to leave and he was paying for YOUR children's needs and you did not pay childsupport,YOUR children would suffer. YOU are obligated to ensure YOUR children's needs are taking care of. Your ex's new boyfriend/husband is not. I am not trying to offend you but I just had to be real.

Right on the Money?
by: Anonymous

Your absolutly right and to those that don't agree sham on you! I have 3 children of my own, and the noncustiodal parent uses the money for herself! And you ask how do I know SHE DON"T WORK!!! Last christmas I bought my son an electric guitar. when I asked his mother to take care of the lessons $60 a month she SAID give me the money (I already pay her $400 a month in CS which just a few days ago they AG uped it to 787.41 a month for one child not even bothering to care about my other to children I support) Instead my girlfreind bought the lessons. Next when school began this yr my ex asked me to by the school clothes for our son and she would buy the school supplys. After my girlfreind and I bought the school clothes, we asked my son what kind of backpack he would like to let his mother know he said don't worry about it grandma bought all my school supplies. But the whole sad thing about this system is you can't take that info to court because we are invading the mothers rights that BS. SO I FEEL THAT THE SYSTEM NEEDS A OVER HAUL OR DONE AWAY WITH BECAUSE ALL IT HAS TURNED INTO IS A WAY FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER HAD A JOB TO SIT ON THERE BUTTS AND LIVE OFF THE SYSTEM!!!!

Still need to pay
by: Anonymous

I agree that it is wrong for the state to make money off from child support money, but I still think that you (or other non-custodial) parents should make their child support payments. My ex has told me for years that he can't afford to work and only does so when his income isn't reported. Yes, your ex could marry up, or you could find yourself unempolyed, but it is easy enough for you to go into court and have the amount adjusted. I don't agree with the thousands of dead-beat parents who wait around doing nothing until they owe thousands and thousands of dollars. One party is often the responsible one--paying school tuition, daycare, etc. Why should this parent be penalized?

Mr. Bitter
by: Anonymous

Sir,
I stand with you. In my situation I lost my kids, my house, my job(thru medical retirement), and half of my retirement. My ex- remarried, lives in a six bedroom home, works maybe 20 hours a week, calls that a job. While I rent a room, work overtime, and risk paying more support, and basically cannot afford to set my life in order for about ten more years. Yes, the state is wrong collecting interest and federal tax funds to create another useless government STRONG ARM, its not about the kids. Someday the revolution will come and those agencies will be abolished. In the mean time, hang tough, and don't worry; change will happen.

States apply interest...
by: Anonymous

Yes, Mr Bitter Man, states deposit collected funds in high-interest yielding accounts for a reason. Your ignorance is truly appalling. Maybe you should grow up and start being a man and paying your debts. Your children are hurting and you will some day answer to your Creator.

STOP AND THINK
by: MELISSA

DID YOU EVER STOP AND THINK ABOUT THE MOM'S THAT ARE WORKING TWO OR THREE JOBS BECAUSE PEOPLE LIKE YOU DO NOT PAY THEIR CHILD SUPPORT. BECAUSE THEY ARE MAD AT THE SYSTEM. YOU SAID YOURSELF YOU OWN A GREAT SUM OF MONEY. I'M NOT PUTTING YOU DOWN IN ANY WAY BUT I'M A SINGLE MOM WITH ONE CHILD AND I JUST GET DONE FIGHTING CANCER. I DEPEND ON THE SYSTEM TO HELP ME. I WORK A FULL TIME JOB AND I GO TO SCHOOL FULL TIME. PEOPLE DON'T STOP TO THINK THAT JUST MAYBE THE PARENT THAT IS RASING THE CHILD HAS IT HARD. WE FEED,CLOTHES,PROVIDE A ROOF OVER THEIR HEAD,MAKE SURE THE GRADES ARE UP,PAY FOR FIELD TRIPS, AND LUNCH. MUCH MORE BUT THEN WHEN MY SON GOES TO HIS DADS IT ALL FUN AND GAMES HE DON'T BUY HIM CLOTHES TO HELP ME OUT. AND GUESS WHAT HE PAY $260 A MTH FOR HIS SON. HIS DAY CARE IS $350 A MTH SO BEFORE YOU GO AND PUT THE SYSTEM DOWN STOP AND THINK ABOUT THE PARENTS THAT ARE TRYING TO BE FAIR AND STILL GET TREATED LIKE A DOOR MAT.
