Support???

by Ella
(New York State)

I have a 10 year old son, whom his non-cosdodial "parent" he doesn't deserve credit to have parent as a title, has never had contact with, (and deined and was proved he was wrong)my son was born early and had many problems, when I told his "father's mom" all she said is when will the baby be home, never asked if it was a boy or girl or if he was ok or anything, this is the only grandchild she had at that time. Anyway I have been in and out of court several times, child support is paid then all of a sudden it stops, exspecially right before it was time to buy school clothes, well 8 years ago I became involved with my fiance, and he has supported my son and myself, and has been a dad to my son, good thing. My son's "father" pays $50 a month in child support and it changes several times over the last 10 years to nothing for months at a time. So this last round I requested a court order. Well, I had to wait about 4 months or more and they finally said we can go to court. We go and he doesn't have his papers, we rescheduled, came back for a second time and he is asking for a lawyer, the third time he has no job so he can only pay $25.00 month in child support. The judge asks if I can support my son on this. Well, my response is I guess I'll have to, was she kidding, then she asks me about my bills and how we pay them, I said we do it every month, but I should have said not with "His"money, I was sick with the flu that day I went to court and was caught off guard. If I would have been with it I would have said I would like to see him live off $25 a month, but like I told my fiance, $25 is better than nothing, he might as well not pay anything. Then "he" asks if I go to work and report it - what? She said of course. Don't worry I will be ready the next time.
