Texas and child support

by Kelly
(College Station Texas)

My nightmare begins. I have a court ordered child support for 5 kids. I have had the order in place since 1992. I have gone through the proper channels in asking the child support office to help with my case. I found the non-custodial parent and reported his where about several times over the last ten years. In hopes they would serve him, by the time the state decided to serve him on non-compliance with the court order. He had moved again. I reported places where he worked. By the time (6 months) they sent the order to the job to have the wages garnished, he would quit the job. He has been in and out of jail for DUI over the years. He was in TDCJ for DUI, 3rd degree felony charge. I reported this to the OAG. Five months later I was sent a letter stating they was closing my case Until I provide proof or reason to continue with the case. I called the office and sent a letter. I requested my case be continued as he was released from TDCJ a month before the OAG decided to close my case. He was released on parole for the state. Yet the OAG doesn't have anything to do with Parole. I asked that they request information from the parole office of the county he lives in. They in turn told me it was up to me to find the non-custodial parent to enforce the order. I was under the understanding that the state of Texas had the toughest laws of any state regarding child support! I have yet to see this. He is not even on the list of child support evaders! I can't seem to get the office I am going through to locate or enforce my order.

Just a simple question: Why and the hell would you have 5 kids? Baffles me when someone has so many kids and no way to support them. If the father of these kids were dead, what would you do or where would you turn for help? Welfare? The main reason behind establishing the Child Support Enforcement Agencies was to reduce the amount of people (usually women) from going on welfare in the first place. I'm not saying that you are one of them, but you might be.

Anyhow, you apparently got involved with a loser in the first place. After having one kid, I don't assume he got any better. Then, you had 4 more? Give me a break. Some of you people need to be accountable for your actions too rather than pointing at the guy who got you pregnant.

I had Emergency Custody of my Daughter due to child abuse from the ex-wife. The daughter ran away for 2 months, she called me and I got her. During that time the ex-wife moved and gave a false address, if the girls was to return home. I was told to pay a certain amount each month which I did. I received 4 letters from the State stating that I was ahead in payments. The Emergency Court Order (Oklahoma) was dismissed which caused me to go into arrears. The State requested payroll info on me and now they say I have to pay over $1100.00 per month. While I had custody of my other daughter, nothing was paid. Texas only looks out for Texas Interests. The ex has 3 attempted suicides, child neglect and a harrassmment charge, nothinng has been done on that. This is how Texas looks out for Texas interests.
