Texas Outdated
by mom missing kids
(georgia for 8 yrs)
I am a resident of Georgia. In the state of georgia, a mother has primary custody until the father legitmizes the child in front of the judge. I have a total of 4 child and their dad moved to texas about two years ago. I allowed my boys to go for the summer and never got them back. Their father sued me for child support and won. Even though we have the same amount of children (two in his house hold, two in mine). On top of this, georgia has issued a warrant out for his arrest and placed my children in the missing data base.
I went to texas, told the police and I was told that whatever is going on in georgia has nothing to do with texas. The judge was so obviously friends with my kids dad attorney. The first time I went to court neither my kids father or his attorney showed (remember I was served to appear to court). So when I went to the local police department they called the judge and they told me to come bck in 24 hours. I didn't get joint custody, he became their primary cudtodial (not sure if that's the correct terminology). I was served the papers on a Saturday and was told I had to appear in court Monday.
I didn't have time to get a attorney to help me. My kids were taken from my house in georgia and the associate judge ruled in their father favor. When does the best interest of the kids become a concern? The judge told me to stand still, and stop my blubbering (crying). All I can say is wow!! What type of state is texas and really how updated are their laws?
