The AG Office in Bexar County
The practices of the Attorney Generals Office (Greg Abbott), particularly in San Antonio, is very bias, one-sided, and SHOULD BE investigated by the proper authorities. The AG states that they are advocates for the children but they are more like a personal collection agency for the mother. Understanding that generally the child lives with the mother and the non-custodial Father pays child support, many, like myself have 50/50 custody. I understand about DEADBEAT Dads but what about DECENT FATHERS WHO FOR VARIOUS REASONS CAN NOT LIVE WITH THE MOTHER and CHILD? When decent fathers maintain their responsibilities, not missing payments and falling in arrears, despite a drop in income, one would expect the Review Officer to take all these things in to consideration, ESPECIALLY, when there are changes in employment. Instead, what I faced were front line barriers and obstacles, someone sitting at the front desk, "screening" calls and office visits to speak to a Review Officer, thus impeding progress.
In my recent experience with a CS Review Officer, I wanted to simply follow up on what has become a 2 year bout with trying to get my Child Support payments reduced after taking a major pay cut. I've always kept up my CS payments, despite depleting my entire savings to near ZERO balance, just so that my credit remains good and also that it might be considered during the AG review.
Anyway, the Review Officer, in a prior conversation, said she would send me some documents I needed to get the CS amount changed. I had not received the documents yet so I wanted to check the status. At the start of the call, she quickly took a defensive posture. Despite keeping cool and speaking in a calm manner (which has been a very difficult task each time in dealing with AG in San Antonio), she remained emotionally charged and FAILED to see that in checking the status of my review, it was SHE WHO FAILED TO MAIL OUT THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS or CONTACT ME REGARDING THE RESULTS OF MY CASE.
For TWO YEARS now I've been trying to get the CS payments reduced, even up to the 20% of my monthly income (I'm currently paying more than 40% for 1 child!) BUT each time, some bias, one-sided, emotions-driven, AG employee, (I want to mention names but I won't this time), hinders progress with red-tape "BS". I know it is because I am the non-custodial parent.
If AG was truly an advocate for the Child, they would understand that the needs of the child also includes the livelihood of their father (who is also loved!)They do not need to see their father with unnecessary financial struggles due to "child support". It only hinders Parent/Child QUALITY time in a QUALITY environment as they see the mother spending the child support on new homes and BMW cars.
