I have a question for both Custodial an Non Custodial Parents when you filed your child support did the OAG ever mention their fee's for collecting the Child support? If they did, would you let me know when it was mentioned. If you are in the same boat as we are and the fee's were never talked about then listen up because you are going to be shocked when I tell you that both the CP an the NCP are getting screwed.

First to the CP have you ever noticed that one week you child support check is diffent from the next week. Then for a month it stays the same every week? The reason I ask is because my Husband and I got online to reveiw his payment history to his ex for his oldest son and the grandparents of his yongest two and were shocked at what we found. From January of 2010 to June 2010 4 out of the 6 months the OAG shorted the mother an grand parents of the children. Even when the same amount is taken every week from my husbands check. When we added it up their was $750 not accounted for, now thats just for six months if this keeps going by the end of the year the OAG will have shorted them in total $1500, for what we are guessing is the OAG fee's for collecting the money. So I urge you CP to get a copy of you payments from the OAG and add each month up to see if they are shorting you!

Now to the NCP I urge you to get a copy of your payment record from the OAG as well and add each month up, also get a copy from you employer showing what they have sent the OAG your going to relize that they may be doing the same to you! Also for the months that they short you they tack that on to the back child support.

People you have a court order for x amount of dollers each month and it pisses me off when the OAG doesn't due their part and screws both sides each month. So I urge you to look at your payments and make sure you are receiving the correct amount each month.

Sad day for Texas parents receiving child support from the OAG......

As a custodial parent and non-custodial parent, I believe that by charging parents for fees to collect child support is an outrage! There are so many useless government funded programs that they could cut from instead of our child support payments. What is this county doing? Charging us to manage the money that is owe to our children. Why don't the politicians take a cut in pay to subsidize the child support program.

The government wants some of the kids money, Now!

NEW: Annual Service and Monthly SDU Fees Notice
Beginning September 1, 2011, processing fees for certain cases take effect. If a fee is assessed it will be deducted from your child support payment.

Monthly SDU Fee
Beginning September 1, 2011, custodial parents will pay a $3 monthly fee in cases that receive registry-only payment processing and record keeping services through the State Disbursement Unit (SDU) for each month in which a child support payment of more than $3 is received. The fee will be deducted from your child support payment.

Annual Service Fee
Beginning October 1, 2011, custodial parents who receive full service monitoring and enforcement services and have never been on public assistance will pay a $25 service fee for each year that they receive more than $500 in child support collections. The fee will be deducted from your child support payment.

OAG Fees

I just logged on to my account after receiving 3 emails at the same time about inquiries I had sent over a month ago and just saw the Fees that they are going to start accessing. What is going on? Why all of a sudden are they accessing fees? Why do we have to go through them in the first place? I look around at this world and the government that we are being dictated under, because that is what it is a Dictatorship not a Democracy. I would say that we should write our State Representative but then we would be spending what little money we had on a wasted cause because we all know that what we say or want doesn't really matter. I am still waiting on a back child support payment from Febuary that they say that by FEderal Regulation they are allowed to hold for up to 180 after the 30th of the month on which it was received.

not getting checks

My sister just received a statement from the OAG stating they received $1300 dollars in child support payments on her behalf and the amount she will receive from this is $0. She is not on TANF WIC or foodstamps can anyone tell me what's going on?

Fees or interest or ???

My last child of 2 with my ex wife graduates in may and is going in the army in June. After the oldest child graduated I requested a payment history from the OAG, it showed 7 missing payments all in 1998 and 1999. During that same time frame, it showed numerous adjustments to the account for payments from someone else being applied to this account or posting errors, then being subtracted once the error was discovered. I wonder whose account my payments were posted to?? Now I have received a letter, saying they are collecting my tax refund because they say I owe $7500. I requested an explanation and received a new payment history printout which now shows $4900 in fees or interest or something, without any explanation. Funny how with only one month to go prior to end of child support, they add in another $4900.....

I had private attorney settle all my custody and child support issues and the payments were to be directly to me. Now the OAG steps in cuz the father doesn't pay the medical ordered and they say it has to be paid to them cuz my kids were on medicaid where in my opion I dished out all this money for lawyers to get this the way I wanted it they need to leave me alone and I feel this should be a seperate issue with the father not me. It is not my fault he did not follow the orders of the court and if they want to do this they need to leave me alone. I an collecting my child support just fine for my kids and I feel is that if I take them off medicaid it should stop right there. There is no reason to get involved in my life and the kids money it is theres not the state and it is a money grabber for the state but you can get them out I found out by talking to a lawyer but it will cost me another $1500. Does anyone out there know how to get them out any way cheaper they sure weren't there to help get the orders in place and they need to leave me alone they need not take any fees from me. SAnyone have any solutions to this I would like to here them.

When my child support order was started I was on medicaid and I was told there were no fees from OAG but it would be $25 a month to reimberse medicaid. Once I got off medicaid I continued to be charged with each of the few payments I did receive. I asked several workers and was told I would have to hire a private attorney to have the order changed. My ex asked the OAG last year and they told him it should have stopped when my medicaid did. I called them back and explained what my ex had said. About 9 months and several phone calls later I actually got it changed and received a refund for $250. I was happy about that since I haven't received a payment in years and they tell me that they can't really help inforce my order because my ex moves alot and works for cash.

My child support payments had money taken out of them also. The reason was to pay for MediCaid, which I was forced to get on because the ncp wouldn't provide insurance.

OAG Runaround-Agree

I have also been getting the run around. When I call I get the runaround with the double talk or they will have someone call me back. Although is has not been a year since my initial start of my case, it has been 10 years since my divorce and not one penny has been received. I have supplied them with everything that they need and now they are looking for some more information. The people I talk to seem to care less. My daughter will turn 18 soon. Her father stayed in Europe so that he can not be reached. Everything I read on-line is crap about the law on deadbeat dads. His thoughts are that the law does not apply to him and is consensus is catch me if you can. My daughter has been trying to get results from Attorney Generals office for a year. Although I can provide for her he still has some responsibility and should be held to it. The laws are definitely a joke. Some are not worth the paper they are written on and does not hold as much weight. Maybe it's time someone higher, Congressman Reyes, reevaluate our AG's performance.

To CP who's getting screwed by OAG Fee's!

Thank You I glad that I am not the only one that noticed this! Yes you are the one getting the money but the Kids and the NCP are getting screwed in the long run. It makes me sick that the OAG couldn't state anything in the withholding documents about the fee. They just secretly take the money like every other goverment program. Something needs to be done about this because if every CP added up what the were shorted every month that could posibliy add up to hundreds of thousands of money each month that the OAG is getting. They are just as bad or worse than any other collection agency out there with their fee's. An all collection agency's are not monitored they can have hidden fee's and nothing is done about it. I just hope that CP an NCP become aware of this and hopfully ban together to have this stoped. Instead of CP blaming the NCP for not getting the correct amount an look towards the OAG and how they are screwing people!!!!

After my husband an I got ALL the paper work together from his employer and the payment record for the OAG the CP didn't want to do anything about it. She doesn't want to go a different way to get her child support her words were why SHOULD I HAVE TO SUFFER, HELLO IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU IT IS ABOUT YOUR SON!!!! So this is the way I feel if you want to keep getting shorted every month because you don't want to do something about it fine be that way! The OAG is screwing the kids in the long run!!

yes! I thought I was the only person who noticed this.. Everyone else, I've asked about it said they never noticed it. I found it when I started reviewing their online system. At the end of every month, that check would be broken into two different checks but would add up to the amount I normally got but I always wondered why that occured. So I inquired with my ex on the amount that was deducted from him. The amount I get weekly was 28 dollars less than what they sent me each week. So that means 840 dollars I loose a month. So after we discovered this, I went back and grabbed the Withholding documents they mail you and it made no mention of that extra 28 dollars either. So I contacted them and inquired personally and after a bunch of blah blah blah, someone finally had the nerve to tell me it was their fees.. Aint that something...

OAG run around

My daughter has been trying to get results from Attorney Generals office for a year. Her ex-husband does not pay child support. AG's office has not enforced the court order at all. If AG can't enforce a court order for child support, then who? She cannot provide for her childeren by herself. This man snubs his nose at her and AG. What a joke they are. Maybe it's time someone higher up in our state goverment took some action. What do we need the AG for?

not sure about fees i do know there interest is 10-12% and can multiply quickly and not all that money is going to the parents how do you think they can pay for their new facilities and fascist judges were paying for the same system that raping us, oh if you ever overpay due to pay schedule don't think you'll get it back either their just prorate towards forward arrears even if you don't have arrears that i have experienced their system is automated and good luck ever recieving a dime back cuz it's already spent where noone knows

I have never been accessed fees of any kind. It is very interesting to hear this. I will look into the my case, but every time I have gotten a payment, which is random, I have gotten what was sent. Thanks for the information and I will be watching... Maybe there are fees for persons that receive some sort of support? I am not quite sure on the matter, but I will keep an out on this and contact the OAG.

Just wondering!

I'm wondering if any of you that are having money taken as a "fee" have ever had any assistance! I was told by AG that because I had medicaid on my son due to NCP not keeping insurance that he (NCP) would have to pay back a % to medicaid. Even though they take a small % of the money out in the end you will get all of your money they just want some of their money also! At least that is what I understood!
