I met a female through the internet. We went on three dates and then she calls it off. She then comes back into my life and tells me she's pregnant. I couldn't believe it. She told me she couldnt get pregnant because of a medical issue. She calls the pregnancy a miracle. I offer to get a place together and she flat out refuses. She tells me she doesn't want me to be a part of the baby's life, of her life, that she doesn't need any man to support her, and that it's just her and the baby. As much as it hurt, I accepted her decision. How could I be so stupid? I believed her cancer story. My daughter was born and after 5 or 6 months, her "mother" files for child support. She is awarded a lot of money and back pay and back medical support. She told me she wanted nothing to do with me and I get screwed with paying her a large amount of money. Since then, I have been threatened with the credit bureau, the denial of my passport, and jail. All these threats from the Attorney General's office happened shortly after the child support hearing. She refused to give me visitation and to give my child my last name. I was given visitation (the first 7 were observed, the next 7 are for 5 hours, and the time increases after that) and she was ordered to change the baby's name...which hasn't happened yet. She then wanted 6 months notice of any changes to the visitation schedule and the Attorney General staff conducting the hearing supported that. I fought that and that was not included the visitation aggreement. This woman is only after the money. How can the Attorney General's office allow this? I don't mind paying the child support but it should have started when she filed it not when the baby was born. She lied and the Attorney General's office believed everything she said.
Gentlemen, beware. The Texas Attorney General's Office does not have a slut clause. We were both irresponsible and yet I am the only one paying for this irresponsibility. Custodial parents, usually the mother, doesn't have to show how this money is supporting the children. She can spend it on herself, which is what usually happens, and the Attorney General's Office does nothing more to protect the children. What system! This office is suppose to protect our children and yet all they do is make these women a lot of money. Why not enforce a savings account with a portion of this money or a college fund. That would really benefit the children.
The Attorney General's Child Support Division is a lazy organization. I know of many situations where the custodial parent who refuses to pay are not harrassed or hounded. Why?...because the non-custodial parent moves around, they don't work, or do whatever they do to avoid child support and this is too much work for agency who supposedly exists to benefit the children. Yet so money hard working men who are trying to do the right thing constantly get threatening letters.
My paycheck is now a joke. I get anywhere between $5 to $125 every 2 weeks. How am I suppose to survive on this? How does my child benefit from this? My fiancee put me on her bank account so that I can get gas money or food money, her account now has a lien because of my child support and her savings was taken. My savings was taken and my son's savings was taken. All because of a woman that I dated 3 times. My fiancee is innocent and has nothing to do with the woman. My fiancee did't get that woman pregnant yet she has to pay too. Don't let anyone put you on their bank account when you're dealing with the Attorney General's Office. They will take all that money.
These Child Support Laws are not working. Is there anything that can be done to change the law? Is there an organization or a law group interested in taking on this challenge?
