Where is the Support for the Fathers?

by Nicole
(Palestine, TX)

I recently married my husband knowing about his past child support issues. He has a son from his ex. Every time we go get him for visitation, he is dirty, smells, and his clothes are to small. This frustrates us because she gets $615.00 a month in child support. Plus, he is paying extra because a judge suspended payments for 10 months. So he is paying for back payments. We take pictures every time we get him in those conditions. And we would love to take FULL custody of him. He cries hysterically when we tell him we're going to drop him back off at his mom's house. I know something is wrong in her household, but I can't prove it. When we drive away my husband cries, because he wants to take him away from there. What can we do to prove she is not a fit parent for him? And gain full legal custody of him.

I can only imagine the situation that you and your husband are going through. Seeing that something is wrong and not being able to do anything about it can be rough. IMO, I would continue to fight for custody, I would continue to take pictures of the clothes that he wears, and I would have faith that one day his son will live in a household where he is loved and cared for properly.-Webmaster

Child Support and CPS is a joke!!!!!!!!
by: Anonymous

CPS is not all they seem to be. They'll tell you to report abuse but when it's reported, they don't do anything either. I know of a mother of 3 had beat her 9 yr old with a bat because he got suspended from school. CPS was called, they visited 1 wk later. Then a month later, they saw the bruises on him and what they do? Nothing. The mother and her BF would turn a mat over and make the kids kneel down on their knees and hold their arms up. And what's so bad, the kids told the CPS worker they wanted to live with their father and it went to deaf ears.

Child Protective Service

CPS CPS CPS Call CPS anonymously(sp?).THey don't call before they show up and they won't disclose who made the call. He obviouly isn't in a kid friendly enviornment and at least there's a chance if you call that they will open a case for neglect. They won't remove him from the home immediatly but they will interview the child and the parent each by themselves and they will photograph the child and anything suspicious and if they see fit to further investigate then there will be a hearing in which if they determine that there is neglect involved they will remove the child from the home and if there is another parent or next of kin, they will call for a temp order of custody or you can petition the court once that happens (if it does)for full custody. It's not that cut & dry and there are lots of different scenerios that can happen but your first bet is to make that call.

Don't give up

I recently got custody of my son after I believed he was being mistreated. In my case, his grandmother became my allie. Chances are if he is being mistreated, someone else has noticed too, and for the sake of the child will help you gain custody.

Support for the Fathers

There are some mothers out there that are just so unbelievably hateful of their ex-spouses that they take it out on the defenseless child. The child not only needs to be seen by CPS, but also a medical doctor and psychologist. Even taken to the police department and have an abuse report filed immediately. In the meantime the child could feasibly go into emergency foster care if unable lawfully to be kept by the biological father. Action should be taken swiftly, like within the hour.

Take your pictures to the child protective services. Ask them to be available when you pick him up so they can see for themselves. This IMHO is child abuse.
