I can totally know what you are going through. They get a little ballzy when they threaten court. However I have never heard of such a law, now when you go to court you will have to fill out a financial statement, everyone does. He must of gotten his facts wrong because if you are out of work, so what, he is still going to have to pay maybe even more. So don't let him scare you, welcome the court hearing because there you will find it is going to go in your favor. Alot of us single parents have lost our jobs, got laid off, are suffering financial difficulties due to the economy. I am so glad you have found someone and are moving on, I think this is what really bothers your ex. Even though he is only 6 months behind he doesn't have the right to threaten you with anything. Remember your kids will be the one to suffer when two parents are arguing, just let him say whatever but take it from one who has been there and back he cannot do a damn thing. If you wanted to file papers for wage assignement so they deduct right from check, you don't have to have contact at all. The courts sends your check every month. I wish you and your family much happiness and may you have a beautiful wedding. God bless maria phoenix, az

Parenting
by: State Law

You will need to look at the family law for the state you reside in. Each state is somewhat different regarding who should pay what. Texas only considers the non-custodial parents income.

Anyhow, these child support enforment agencies are ruthless and do more damage to families than good. As long as they get money through thier system, that's all that matters. They get credit for it. They could careless where the money is spent and if either parent is involved in the child's life.

To answer you question: The state cannot and will not force the parent to attend any classes to be a better father unless he had custody and was suspected of child abuse.

Like I said-----THEY DON'T CARE!
